What different types of stories commonly appear in music videos?
 Music videos tend to have story lines which go with the artists song and the lyrics usually help to tell the story. For example Rihanna's music video for her song 'We Found Love' is about a couple who are in love but have relationship problems.
Relationships and romance seem to be two of the biggest things used as a storyline in music video's. For example 'Mirrors' by Justin Timberlake, 'Baby' by Justin Bieber and their are many others as well. If music videos aren't about relationships and romance its usually about having fun doing crazy things and partying. For example 'How We Do' by Rita Ora, Sorry for Party Rocking' by LMFAO, 'Five Colors in her hair' by Mcfly. However, not all music videos relate to the songs and also their are many songs that have music videos which people don't understand and some music videos are of just the artist(s) performing.
Also I have mainly been talking about one sort of genre in the music industry and all genre's are different with their music videos.


Performance
Do you always see the artist(s) in their music videos?
No, some artist(s) tend to not be in their music videos and just like a story to be told from their song. For example, we do not see David Guetta or Sia in the music video for 'Titanium'. However, most music videos have the artist(s) being seen throughout and sometimes they are actually a part of the story (Katy Perry - Hot and Cold) or other times you just see snippets of them throughout the video (The Script - Hall Of Fame).
